Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, Truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. -John 3:3

Thankfully we don’t need to understand all things before experiencing them. Just like a baby has no clue how he came to be born, we can be born spiritually without understanding how it works.

That’s how it was for me. A friend was talking to me about Jesus and I said I believe in Jesus but I have no clue about anything else you are talking about.

He told me to just read Revelation (the last book in the Bible, which I wouldn’t recommend to start with but just want to tell it like it happened 🙂 )

As I was reading a thought jumped into my head: Jesus died for me! I have to give Him my life in return!

I actually had no reference point for this, it was just a ‘knowing’ that came to me. Suddenly everything seemed new. I was seeing the same old things but with brand new eyes.

Life became exciting again and though there are still challenges there is no comparison with being spiritually alive (sort of like comparing being in the womb with being born into the whole other world waiting outside.)

It was only years later while relating the above experience that someone explained matter of factly, “Yes, you were born again.” I was like oh, cool.

Thankfully we don’t have to wait for it to just happen, but can ask Jesus to show us what it is He wants to show us about Himself.

When we see how incomparably amazing He is, giving ourselves fully to Him becomes the most obvious and desirable thing to do – and maybe the most scary – sounds like True Love to me.
